Partner Schools

What are Partner Schools?

SAFE has identified the student populations at local Lutheran schools for tuition scholarship awards. Our Partner Schools meet all state requirements of a Qualified School, allowing donors to participate in Arizona’s tax credit donation programs. They are also affiliated with a congregation of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.

What is a Qualified School?

A Qualified School is a non-governmental primary or secondary school (K-12) that does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, disability, familial status or national origin and requires all personnel with unsupervised student contact to be fingerprinted. Qualified schools offer services to students with disabilities. A Qualified School does not include charter schools or any programs operated by a charter school.

Can my school become a Partner School?

Please inquire with the SAFE Board of Directors

What can schools use scholarship funds for?

Scholarships may only be used for tuition for the student named on the award at the school where s/he is enrolled. Scholarships may not be used for Pre-Kindergarden.

Can schools determine which students are awarded tuition scholarships?

Only SAFE can award scholarships to students however student recommendations are welcome and will be considered.

Can schools keep scholarship awards that exceed a student’s tuition?

No, any excess awards are to be returned to SAFE where they will be used for scholarships for eligible students. See the school financial aid counselor for more information.

Can a student’s scholarship be applied to a previous year’s tuition?

A scholarship can only be applied to the current year’s tuition.

When do SAFE Partner Schools receive scholarship awards?

SAFE Lutheran funds scholarships at the beginning of the school year, and monthly thereafter, based upon funds available.

What happens to a student’s scholarship if they transfer to a different school?

It depends the type of school the child transfers to. If a student transfers to a public or non-SAFE Partner private school, then remaining scholarship money will be returned to SAFE for subsequent award to another student at a SAFE Partner School. If a student transfers to another SAFE Partner school, then remaining scholarship money will follow the student to that school.
